About the Author
Professor Sievert, a St. Bonaventure and U.T. Law graduate, had a long and distinguished career in the U.S.
Department of Justice where he won awards for the trial of several major cases and worked closely on investigations with the FBI and U.S. Intelligence Community. He was a well recognized instructor for the Department of Justice, FBI Academy and several federal agencies. He began teaching National Security Law and
Intelligence related courses at the University of Texas School of Law in 2000 and accepted an appointment at
the Bush School of Government graduate international affairs program to teach National Security and International Law. He has published numerous law review articles on national security law issues related to government surveillance, Patriot, similarities and differences between the Bush and Obama national security
program, Export Control, the International Criminal Court and the nuclear non proliferation treaty.
